4 Ways that You Can Support and Uplift BIPOC Entrepreneurs
Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC) are underrepresented in the start-up and
technology space. The tech industry is in dire need of fresh, diverse voices, yet some say that
the tech world is a hostile place filled with unconscious bias. BIPOC are constantly finding ways
to navigate through a world not built for us. We’ve put together 4 ways that you can support
BIPOC entrepreneurship to help uplift the BIPOC ecosystem.
1. Follow BIPOC Entrepreneurs on social media and interact with content
Social media has transformed the way that businesses communicate with their customers. It is a great way for you to communicate with your favourite brands, but it is also a good way of supporting them. If you follow them and interact with their content, it helps them grow their audience and connect with them on more of a personal level.
2. Recommend to family and friends
Although the internet is a great place to search for local entrepreneurs, sometimes you just want to tell your friends and family about a small business that you are happy with. BIPOC entrepreneurs don’t always get the recognition they deserve, so word of mouth can help them expand their awareness. Recommend them to your friends and family and help us put small BIPOC entrepreneurs on the map.
3. Leave positive reviews
Leaving positive reviews are helpful for BIPOC entrepreneurs, as this shows other consumers that their brand is a trusted place to buy from. This helps the entrepreneurs with their overall conversion rate, website traffic and overall sales. You may be able to write a review on their website, social media pages or you can even drop them an email to tell them your thoughts on their products which they can then share across their platforms.
4. Sign up on email lists
Email lists are a great way to communicate with your favourite BIPOC entrepreneurs. They can be used to send information or offers, or to simply see how they are doing. They can also provide you with a way to stay in touch with them. By signing up for brand email lists, you are supporting them and helping them to continue to provide you with great products and services.
By reading this we hope this post has been a good resource for you to learn more about what it means to support and uplift BIPOC entrepreneurs. It’s important to us that we do everything we can to foster a business community that is welcoming and supportive of everyone, and we hope this list will help you do just that! Now that you know how to support the entrepreneurs you love, try doing just that so they are aware of the support that you have for them.
