LinkedIn is the social media platform for professionals, so how can you utilize your connections on the platform to reach more people? Tennile Cooper shares her 5 tips on creating posts and interacting with LinkedIn!
Share visual status updates
LinkedIn algorithm prioritizes high-quality posts, so content that is rich in multi-media is more likely to outperform others! Image posts get 2x more comments than regular, and video posts get 5x as many! Make use of this by posting images, videos or documents directly to your feed rather than lengthy walls of text.
Comment/Like Other People's Stuff
If you can’t think of what to post, interact with the content on your feed! Don’t be lazy and say “great post,” be insightful or write what you took away from the post! Comment and like posts, whether it be on posts in your feed or even your own post.
Send Direct Messages
Do not spam people you do not know, only DM warm contacts. These are people that you have either met in person, have regular contact with online or have shared their posts more than once. If you need to message them and don’t know what to say, try this template:
"Hi [name]
I have been following you on LinkedIn and I am impressed by [high praise], which made me want to reach out.
I would love to get your take on... Do you mind if [soft ask]?
OR
How well do you know [person]? Do you mind if [soft ask]?
[snippet of your professional focus or reason for soft ask]
Thank you. [Me].
"
LinkedIn also sends an email notification to the recipient of the DM, so do not squander your opportunity by saying something unimportant!
Use #Hashtags in Your Posts
Trending posts that use relevant hashtags appear in the notification bar, so make sure you take advantage of their potential. Additionally, utilize LinkedIn’s timeline to capitalize on trending topics and include yourself in those conversations!
Be Featured in LinkedIn News
Weigh-in on LinkedIn editors when they ask about topics that pertain to your industry and leverage storytelling to create meaningful replies. Always respond like you are having a normal conversation; say things that make you laugh, think and/or feel inspired because these will resonate with audiences the best! You can even take some FAQ from your own business to aid in what to write.
